RTN, or Rostekhnadzor,(former GGTN) is the Russian body that regulates industrial safety. Its official name is the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Supervision. What is the RTN Permission? 

 RTN provides permission to operate hazardous equipment or technical devices. This document is needed when the equipment begins operation and throughout the whole service life. The aim is to confirm that the equipment is safe to operate.

What equipment does it cover?

 RTN Permission is required for hazardous equipment or technical devices such as

• Equipment to be operated at plants where the following hazardous materials are produced, used, processed, stored or transported: flammable materials; oxidizing agents; fuel; explosives; toxic materials & highly toxic materials; environmentally unfriendly materials

• Equipment to be operated under pressure ≥ 0.07 MPa (0.7 kgf/cm2) or at water temperature ≥ 115 °С;

 For how long is RTN Permission valid?

RTN permits are valid for 3 years for imported equipment; it can be issued for a single device, for an entire line or for serial  production.
